Welcome!
Do you feel angry, stressed, alone, or out of control? Do you feel like you are where you want to be, connected to those you care about, and living the way you want?
Often, our feeling stuck has something to do with what is happening around us and how we respond to it. It’s not about who we are as a person but how we see the situation and how we see ourselves in it. Sometimes we respond with numbing. These are activities we use to distract ourselves from noticing the discomfort we feel. The activities can range from binge watching Netflix to having 3 drinks a night. Other times we respond with control and judgment. We constantly yell at ourselves to do better and stop making mistakes, as a way of trying to get others to like or love us.
These kinds of patterns rarely lead to us feeling better and living the way we want to live. More often than not, they get in the way. At Life Recovery Consulting we help you engage in that life you want. It’s in our name; we want to help you recover your life after other stuff got in the way.
Life Recovery currently has 2 locations and also supports anyone in the state of Missouri through telehealth therapy. The main office is in Richmond, MO with a second office located in Liberty, MO. Between these offices and our therapists, we can surely find a time and location that works for you.
If you think you’re ready to start getting the life you want, we’re ready to help.
Services
At Life Recovery we offer therapy, assessment, consultation, coaching, and presentations in our specialty areas. The bulk of our work is therapy. We meet with you, typically one on one, to talk about what’s happening in your life, what’s getting in the way, and help generate ideas on how to move forward. Though this is the bulk of conversation, there’s often a lot more that is happening in session. One of our main goals as therapists is to identify the areas you avoid engaging with and help you connect with those thoughts long enough to find a solution. Most of the time, you are the one with the answer but we are social beings and we need other people to support us in finding our solutions. We see most people for most mental health issues. There are a few rare occasions where we are not qualified to help and will refer you to someone else, but otherwise we are happy to help. We do specialize in a few areas however. These are addictions, autism, and trauma. See our specialty page to learn more about each of these. We also offer assessment services for people who might be on the autism spectrum. Assessment results are primarily used to receive services from the state, and possible your school or workplace. We use the ADI-R which is a standard assessment tool used for diagnosis and acquiring supports.
Life Recovery also focuses on providing services to rural communities in the state of Missouri. We recognize that it is difficult to find support when you are far from the urban areas. To help with this, we offer online telehealth therapy. Telehealth sessions are very similar to in person sessions, but you do it at your computer in your own home or wherever you choose to be. If this seems like an option you’re interested in, you can get more information here.

It has occurred to me that some of my future clients might wonder who they are hiring to help them through some very rough patches and trusting to walk with them on some vulnerable journeys. I understand that because I have been many of the places my clients have been and will go. I have […]Learn More
